Il comitato dei Gotham Awards ha rivelato le candidature relative alla prossima cerimonia, in programma il prossimo primo dicembre. A guidare la classifica dei film più nominati, c’è Una battaglia dopo l’altra di Paul Thomas Anderson (qui la nostra recensione) con 6 candidature.
Si tratta della terza edizione da quando il prestigioso premio (storicamente rivolto al cinema indipendente) ha aperto le porte anche ai blockbuster (fino al 2022 opere realizzate con budget superiore ai 35 milioni di dollari non potevano essere candidate), passando da vincitori quali Moonlight e Il Caso Spotlight a Barbie di Greta Gerwig candidato a miglior film nel 2023.
Tra gli attori candidati, spiccano alcuni nomi, come Rose Byrne per If I had legs I’d kick you (qui la nostra recensione in anteprima), Lee Byung-hun per No Other Choice (recensione) e Ethan Hawke per Blue Moon (recensione in anteprima). Da segnalare la nomination per la miglior interpretazione non protagonista per Jacob Elordi, interprete del Mostro di Frankenstein nel film omonimo di Guillermo del Toro (recensione) e per A$AP Rocky in Highest 2 Lowest di Spike Lee. Si tratta della prima nomination in carriera per il rapper.
