The Hollywood Reporter riferisce in esclusiva che Paramount Pictures ha ingaggiato James Wan (L’evocazione – The Conjuring,Fast & Furious 7, Aquaman) per dirigere il remake del film sudcoreano The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil. Ma Dong-seok (anche noto come Don Lee), l’attore protagonista del film del 2019 diretto da Lee Won-tae, è anch’egli coinvolto nel progetto.
Nel film originale presentato in anteprima al Festival di Cannes, un gangster e un poliziotto uniscono le forze per catturare un serial killer.
Brian Helgeland, sceneggiatore Premio Oscar per Mystic River e LA Confidential, ha scritto la prima bozza della sceneggiatura e sarà produttore esecutivo, mentre Shay Hatten (Resident Evil) si occuperà della sceneggiatura definitiva.
James Wan produrrà il film insieme a Michael Clear per la sua società, Atomic Monster. Anche Don Lee è tra i produttori, tramite Big Punch Global, insieme a Sylvester Stallone e D. Matt Geller per Balboa Productions, Chris Lee per B&C Group e Jang Won-seok, CEO di BA Entertainment.
