Le candidature per la 78ª edizione degli Emmy Awards sono state svelate ufficialmente: l’evento, che definisce i contorni della stagione televisiva, si è tenuto all’interno del Wolf Theatre della Television Academy. A fare gli onori di casa in veste di presentatrice della cerimonia è intervenuta Cris Abrego, presidente dell’Academy, che ha introdotto i talenti scelti per rivelare i nomi dei concorrenti. Il compito di annunciare le preferenze dei votanti è stato affidato all’attrice Liza Colón-Zayas, vincitrice di un Emmy, e all’interprete Jeff Hiller, due figure di rilievo dell’attuale panorama seriale.
Come previsto prima del formale annuncio, le votazioni hanno consolidato il successo di specifiche opere. La serie drammatica medica di HBO intitolata The Pitt ha riscosso ancora una volta un grande successo tra i votanti degli Emmy, un risultato che premia la struttura narrativa della sua seconda stagione con ben 25 nomination. Parallelamente, il canale via cavo premium ha visto trionfare anche la commedia intergenerazionale Hacks, la quale ha ricevuto molti apprezzamenti in occasione della sua quinta e ultima stagione, chiudendo definitivamente un ciclo televisivo omaggiato con 24 nomination (un record per una singola stagione di una comedy). Il favore delle giurie non ha tralasciato un altro titolo di grande richiamo, dal momento che anche The Bear ha ottenuto diverse nomination, un traguardo raggiunto dopo aver recentemente concluso la sua quinta stagione di messa in onda.
